Eichsfeld: Landscape, Ideology, and Boredom
10‘22‘‘, 2000
by Jenny Perlin and Trebor Scholz

The Project

We propose to create a digital video investigating the connections between the personal and the social in relation to the implosion of the Socialist republics in Europe.
Trebor Scholz served as a border guard between the two Germanys between 1988 to the 26 October, 1989. Ten days before the Wall came down, Scholz completed his compulsory military service.
Perlin and Scholz propose to make a video shedding light on the differences between the public perceptions of a border guard's role, and the day to day experience of patrolling this unique landscape.
This video would be specifically designed for presentation at the EuroVision2000 events. We would be delighted to have the opportunity to make this work for EuroVision2000.
