Materia Prima
11', 2000
Sabrina Muzi-Angelo Petronella

Materia Prima (raw material) is a meeting with the city of Bologna, taking into consideration enviroments and aspects of its popular and traditional life: the square as a historical meeeting point, popular singing and dance as aggregation and simply convivial solidarity opportunities-situations where bodies have been getting a way to set themselves free and have relationships. The local living experience is the raw material, it is the starting to think of a deeper identity, beyond the boundaries.
But raw material is also what stays hidden under the glossy fabric of the city, under the huge amount of goods in the shop-windows, which our eyes can see as a beautiful and ready to buy product, gaining our favour.
Raw material is a multitude of working lives which provide the city with energy; raw material is made of all the people on the fringe of society, members without a community, because they are different and far from a common profit logic. This raw material is the man, claiming his own being within a wider and wider, differentiated community.
